The Trading Blanket: Bartering Rules
Welcome to The Trading Blanket! Here’s how we keep things fun and fair as we swap goods and services.
Bring Your Best:
Participants are encouraged to bring multiple items they are willing to trade. These can be books, jewelry, movies, playing cards, or any legal item you think others might enjoy or need.
The more items you bring, the more chances you have to make great trades!
Starting the Trade Circle:
We begin in a circle. The first person starts by presenting one or more items they’d like to trade. Place them on The Trading Blanket (or any designated area).
The next person in the circle will then present their tradeable items in turn.
Interest & Offers:
As we go around the circle, anyone who is interested in the particular item will present what they are willing to trade for it and place it in the blanket
The Sweeten the Pot Option:
Once it gets back to the original person who presented their items, they can decide if any of the offered items are of interest.
If they want to sweeten the deal, they can ask another participant to "sweeten the pot" by adding more items to the trade.
The other person has the choice to accept, deny, or adjust their offer.
Making the Deal:
Once both parties agree on a trade, the original item presenter can finalize the exchange.
At that point, everyone shouts "Huzzah!" to celebrate a successful trade.
No Pressure, No Judgment:
If a trade doesn’t happen or isn’t agreed upon, that's okay! We move on, and others in the circle can make new offers.
Keep the spirit of fun, respect, and fairness in mind. This is about enjoying the process of trading, not forcing any particular deal.
Finalizing the Circle:
The trade continues until all items have been presented, or participants are satisfied with the exchanges they've made.
